Multi sensory screen - all in the fingers

New concepts and ideas are continuous rocking the mobile world. In the photo below you are seeing the product of cooperation of Microsoft Research and Mitsubishi Electric Research Labs. This time, they presented a new multi sensory screen (multi-touch screen), which greatly expands the functionality of traditional touchscreens.

As we know that to enter and manage applications on a small screen mobile devices is more problematic. Stylus and the small buttons do not do it quickly and conveniently. If using immediately hands, the work become more complicated.

New technology's Lucid Touch removes these restrictions. The user can interact with the device, referring to the back part. Out-hand image on the screen, this technology creates the illusion of mobile device, which is directly semi transparent. Thus, you can enter information with a virtual keyboard and all the fingers much easier viewing of the image data, such as maps.

According to Patrick Baudisha (Patrick Baudisch), a researcher from Microsoft Research, a transparent touch screen at the front and rear is very problematic. Therefore, the test sample was made with the camera, Located at the rear, it broadcast images on the screen, creating the effect of transparency. Future plans for this purpose is to put sensors located on the back surface.

The existing test sample size is such Ultra-Mobile PC (UMPC). However, developers continue to experiment and look at other form factors, such as the PDA or Tablet PC. The researchers plan to submit a report on its work in early October at a symposium Association ACM (Association for Computing Machinery).

Multi sensorny screen is not the design work, it is a research project with the existing model. But it will take time to see gadgets loaded with LucidTouch devices on the shelves of stores .
