Get a Personalized Icon for Java Application on Your Phone

Did you get bored by looking at those same old icons for Java (j2me) applications on your phone? Well then I've got solution for you people. This tutorial will guide you how to change the Default application icon to the personalize one. For this you don't need any programming knowledge.

For this you should have:-

  • A pc/laptop.
  • winrar.
  • jar file of applications you want to change the Icons.
  • Images from which you want to make personalized Icons.
  • An Image editing software like photoshop or any other you prefer.

let me start with the most commonly used application opera mini.

First you have to get a jar file file of opera mini on you pc/laptop (download it from here). After you download it right click on the jar file and open it with winrar. This is how its gonna look

You can see here only one image file "i.png". The default Opera Mini icon is shown in the image below.

Now what you have to do is open the image and have a look at its properties. here the default opera mini icon is a png file of 15x15 pixels with the name " i ". So now we have to convert our image(the one we want to make our default icon) to the size of 15x15 pixels and convert it to a png file this you can easily do with the help of photoshop. After you convert it to a 15x15 pixels png file save it with the name " i " ( write it in a lower case ). Now you are done with the most of the things. Now once again open opera mini.jar file with winrar drag your "i.png" file to winrar and replace the existing file and you are done. now transfer the file to your phone. Now go to applications menu and have a look at your personalized icon.

Things to Remember:

  • Name of the new icon file should be the same as of the default icon other wise this won't work.
  • Always use the same case while naming the file.
  • You can change the size of image file but not more than 200%. Other wise it can give you errors.
  • You can apply same tutorial to change any image file you can see when you open it with the winrar.
Below you can see more screen shots of icons changed in mig33.

That's my picture as an icon for mig33 :p.

You can download few icons for Opera Mini & Twitter from here. If you are having any problem please let me know, I am always here to help you.

The letters, printed on new paper by Xerox, disappear within 24 hours

What we have seen in the spy movie is made in to reality - the letters printed on the new paper by Xerox disappear within 24 hours, allowing you to use the paper again and again.

The theme of economy is what the IT-industry has been working on and they were so serious that an attempt by Xerox to reduce the consumption of paper has no surprises. However, this time Xerox has resorted to a rather economising way.

Xerox engineers have developed a special coating for paper, which turns dark after processing it with a certain wavelength. This lets you print on paper without the use of ink or toner. Printed information vanishes after 16-24 hours, after which the paper is again ready for use. It is possible to accelerate the process of vanishing, exposing the paper Effects of heat.

Despite of the absurdity of some of the paper, which keeps to itself the information for one day, Xerox argues that potential savings of up to 40% of paper in offices by printing on such paper documents to a single reading, or documents that are losing their relevance on the next day.

It is worth mentioning that in order to print on such paper would need a special printer from Xerox, of course.

For the first time that the development could be seen in the exhibition Wired NextFEST.

This innovation under the working title "temporary paper" is still only in the development phase of Xerox, the chances of its adoption and further success for use in everyday life is still low. But spies and swell mob certainly are looking forward to the launch of the invention into production :p.
